Pauline Emma Greene, 89, of Plankinton, SD passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Alexandria, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.

Pauline Emma (Wulf) Greene was born the middle child of 15, with seven brothers and seven sisters, on February 24, 1927 to Henry and Ruth (Davis) Wulf in Aurora County, SD. She attended Peterson Country School through the eighth grade in Center Township, Aurora County, SD. She held a variety of jobs, working at the grocery store being her favorite. On May 4, 1956 Pauline was united in marriage to Charles Greene in Plankinton, SD. She had an excellent sense of humor, loved to play bingo, listen to polka music and read Western books.

Pauline was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plankinton, enjoyed traveling, bowling - even on the Wii and embroidering. She was fiercely independent and a skillful seamstress, creating baby quilts for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared in Pauline’s life: her four children: John Greene of Plankinton, SD, James (Monika) Greene of Junction City, KS, Jane (Clinton) Degen of Alexandria, SD and Carl (Lisa) Greene of Plankinton, SD; 11 grandchildren: Michelle (Tom) Greene, Daniel Greene, Marcus (Tab) Degen, Scott (Revel) Degen, Chris (Andria) Degen, Becky (Paul) Schulz, Bonny (Walter) Rhunke, Trent (Paige) Greene, Tayler Greene, Riley (Chelsey) Greene and Tucker (Brittany) Greene; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers: Vernon Wulf of Mitchell, SD and Bing Wulf of Plankinton, SD; three sisters: Mickey Darrough of Sioux City, IA, Olive Frauenfelder of St. George, KS and Beatrice Wulf of Stickney, SD; a sister-in-law, Agnes Wulf of Hawarden, IA; a special niece she considered a blessing, Holly Wulf; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pauline was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles (Apr. 24, 1981); a son, Steven; her parents; five brothers: Albert, Barney, Richard, Henry and Lawrence; four sisters: Elaine, Henrietta, Laura and Violet; and several in-laws.
