Curtis Wayne Sterk, 47, of Platte, SD passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Platte. Memorial Services are 12:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte. A Committal Service at Platte City Cemetery will follow lunch with the family. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Mount Funeral Home in Platte with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.

Curtis Wayne Sterk was born on August 28, 1969 to Ernest and Janet (Gustad) Sterk in Platte, SD. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Platte. Curt graduated from Platte High School in 1988 and went on to complete his Associate’s degree from Mitchell Technical Institute in 1991. He was currently employed as a Mechanic with Platte Power Sports.

Curtis was a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard and the East River Sportsmen’s Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter – enjoyed being outdoors and the friendships involved with that. He took pride in his flower and vegetable gardens and was a great cook, creating delicious meals on his Big Green Egg grill. He liked to watch WWE and Cops on TV or cheer on the Cubs and Vikings. Curt was interested in photography and loved the freedom of riding motorcycle.

Grateful for having shared in Curt’s life: his mother and step father, Janet Sterk-McConnell and Mike McConnell of Sioux Falls, SD. Sister, Carla and Kelly Weisser of Platte, SD and their family: Kendra Weisser and Kristie Fosnot and children, Jace and Camden of Bakersfield, CA; Kyle and Katie Weisser of Sioux Falls, SD and Kelby Weisser of Platte, SD. Sister, Michelle Sterk and Erik Swanson of Rapid City, SD and their family: Trey Sauvage, Morgan Schaefer and Dorian Swanson all of Rapid City, SD. Brother, Bryan and Jamie Sterk of Sioux Falls, SD and their family: Keagan Sterk of Platte, SD and Damien, Gabriel and Matthias Gann of Sioux Falls, SD. Step Siblings, Chad and Mark McConnell, Jennifer Mac and Samantha Plooster. Along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Curt is also survived by an amazing group of friends, too numerous to mention.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Sterk (1998); a brother, Ronald Sterk (1987); and his grandparents: John and Marie Gustad, John and Minnie Sterk.
