Judith Kay Lester, 68, of Pukwana, SD passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Sanford Chamberlain Care Center. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Protestant Parish in Kimball, SD. A Committal Service will follow at Kimball Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 26, 2016 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.
Judith Kay (Korzan) Lester was born on July 9, 1948 to Harry and Olive (Hansen) Korzan in Mitchell, SD. She attended Kimball High School and was united in marriage to Douglas Lester on March 11, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Kimball, SD. Judy started working as a Nurse’s Aide in 1965, then as a Lab Assistant and when she retired from her position in the Medical Records Department of the Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center in 2015, she had over 50 years of service in the medical profession.
Judy was a member of Kimball Protestant Parish where she served as an Elder, was active in Shalom Women’s Bible Study Group and Nightingales Nurses. She enjoyed gardening, cooking what she grew and learning about her family’s genealogy.
Grateful for having shared in Judy’s life: her husband of over 51 years, Douglas Lester of Pukwana, SD; their son, Troy Lester of Pierre, SD; a granddaughter, Katy Kenobbie of Rapid City, SD; two great grandchildren: Avery and McKenzie; a brother, Gary L. (Jeanice) Korzan of Mitchell, SD; in-laws: Brent (Nancy Jo) Lester of Rapid City, SD, Nancy (Emile) Laurendeau of Mitchell, SD and Jeannie (Tim) Kubik of Mitchell, SD; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by: a daughter, Tammy Jean; her parents, Harry and Olive Korzan; and a brother, Allan Korzan.
