Harvey Mount, Jr., 71, of Vermillion, SD passed away after a brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. Burial at Bluff View Cemetery in Vermillion will be at a later date. Mount Funeral Home of Platte, SD and Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion are assisting with arrangements.
Harvey Mount, Jr. was born on August 21, 1945 to Harvey Emil, Sr. and Genevieve Vivian (Brunick) Mount in Vermillion, SD. He graduated from Meckling High School in 1963 and was united in marriage to Barbara Elaine Shadbolt on May 19, 1965 in Luverne, MN. He was a Farmer, employed as a Lineman for the city of Vermillion Electric Department and most recently, owned and operated Mount Monument Sales and Service with Barb until retiring in 2012 due to health reasons.
Harvey was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. He was always up for a good game of cards, enjoyed fishing and camping, yard work – especially mowing and loved to spend time with his family.
Grateful for having shared in Harvey’s life: his wife of over 52 years, Barb Mount of Vermillion, SD; five children and twelve grandchildren: Kevin (Linda) Mount - Aaron of Rapid City, SD, Scott (Janell) Mount – Daniel (Tayler), Skyler, Kyle and Ryan of Sioux Falls, SD, Dawn (Dwayne) Resch – Ashley, Kayla (Jason) and Matthew (Emily) of Crocker, MO, Sheri (Chad) Nelson – Zachary and Emma of Sioux Falls, SD and Mark (Michelle) Mount – Meghan and Mason of Platte, SD; 13 great grandchildren; his mother, Vivian Mount of Vermillion, SD; three brothers: Gary (Pat) Mount of Wakonda, SD, Bill (Karen) Mount of Yankton, SD and Brian (Janet) Mount of Meckling, SD; two brothers-in-law: Buddy (Doris) Shadbolt of North Sioux City, SD and Russ Shadbolt of Pomona, CA; along with many nieces and nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by his father, Harvey, Sr.; a sister, Sylvia Freeburg; an infant brother, Larry; his mother and father-in-law, Albert and Rose Shadbolt; five sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.
